The Uncommon Line

On this week’s episode we return to Texas Gun Experience where, we had the opportunity to sit down with the President of Operation Enduring Warrior, Troy Warshel, and honoree and program manager for OEW's Warrior voice Jeremy Scharlow. Troy, also a veteran marine fighter pilot, explains what this incredible non-profit is doing for our warrior community and what it means to him and the OEW family. Jeremy gets real and takes us back to his on duty shooting and the aftermath, including his struggles with PTSD and addiction, until OEW found him and gave him a new purpose. Check out his book, “My Brother’s Keeper: Relearning to Live with PTSD”.

We are so excited to announce that we are partnering with OEW to share more honoree’s stories on a series called “The warriors voice”. We hope that these episodes will help provide healing and an outlet for the honorees, but we also hope that this reaches someone that needs to know they are not alone. That there are good men and women who want to help. You are here for a purpose and needed more than you know.

A special shout out to Soledier Socks for surprising OEW with custom sock design. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to OEW. Pay close attention for the sock release in the coming months.

Thank you to our sponsors Soledier Socks and RX Plus Plate for making this episode possible!

PTSD & Law Enforcement. You Are Not Alone!

Clip from The Uncommon Line Podcast

"Jeremy and Juan of Operation Enduring Warrior. Words can not express what it was like to sit across from warriors like this. This organization is so unique in what it is doing for the warrior community. We were speechless and moved to tears listening to them tell their stories of being wounded on the job and what they are doing to continue to push forward and to help others in the processes." ~ The Uncommon Line

Being ambushed and shot changed me. The event and the experiences after made me question some of my most tightly held beliefs about who I was and what I believed. I felt as though I was a stranger onto myself.

My motivations for this writing are as much selfish as they are altruistic. I do not promise anything more than an account of my experiences and the emotions surrounding those experiences.

I found a path I believe we all can use to find peace. I hope others can use my experiences to find their individual path to healing.

If we can reach just one...

With no provocation or warning I was attacked, punched in the head and shoulders, and eventually shot for simply trying to tell someone their headlights were not working.

Shockingly, the physical healing process was not terrible. I was able to regain most of the use in my dominate arm and I now only suffer from moderate nerve pain and minor mobility/strength issues.

Although physically “okay,” my mental state was an entirely different story.
